THE POLITICS OF PERSONAL DESTRUCTION

Your Councilmen will stay above the fray, not engage in name calling, personal attacks calling out or alienating any member of any political party, after all we are all neighbors in a small town.

Hundreds of Stanford Residents had voiced their disatisfaction with the politics of personal destruction during last years election campaign. Unfortunatly, Virginia Stern has not listened. Mailings continue to be sent to Stanford residents always attacking the "Republican" members of the Town Board. Name calling, lies and as expected, a distortion of the facts. The mailings are signed .....this time, by Melvin Eiger friend of and member of Virginia Sterns administration and "committee".

We simply continue to report facts and reference board video's and meetings for you. After all, we heard the residents concerns with civility, decorum and the lack thereof at Town Board meetings and move to bring the board meetings back to respectability. WE LISTENED TO YOU!!

It is sad that Stanford Town Supervisor Virginia Stern resorts to name calling when she is disagreed with by anyone on the Stanford Town Board. Supervisor Stern uses words like "partisan ", "mean spirited", "aggressive republicans". I find it hard to believe these are actually the words of a Town Supervisor, someone who is supposed to foster debate and discussion not silence it.

"Partisan ", "mean spirited", "aggressive", Did you know Supervisor Stern was involved in mass mailings to all our town residents over the last two years that have done nothing but lie, accuse and make false innuendos about our towns elected councilmen? First it was a mailing showing closed down buildings, run down factories spewing gas and smoke and indicating this is what you get if you vote republican, that was in 2010. There were further lies, innuendoes and false accusations referencing Councilmen Mark D'Agostino, Thomas Dewhirst and Joseph Norton, Oh did I mention these mailings trashing our town councilmen were sent out anonymously within one week of the November elections.... mean spirited?? partisan??, aggressive??... And wasn't it Supervisor Stern who forced her own Stanford Democratic Chairman to resign and inserted her husband as the new chairman.... mean spirited?? partisan?? aggressive?? Did you know an email (anonymous again) was sent to Councilman D'Agostino when he lost the supervisor race showing a "Simpsons" character pointing and laughing at him for losing by only 3 votes, did you know Stern threatened a lawsuit against a Stanford Town Councilman and wrote a letter threatening to censure another?... mean spirited?? partisan??, aggressive??

When the town of Stanford had almost 3 million dollars of previously taxed money in a savings account, Supervisor Stern wanted to raise taxes even more. It was the republican majority that vetoed Supervisor Sterns tax increase and proposed and passed a 0% budget increase in 2011. Is this the "partisan squabbling" she refers to when the republican majority talks about lowering taxes while she proposes tax increases?? It was Supervisor Stern who decided to vote for a 10.34% tax increase for 2012 most likely to pay for the increased costs of the town garage even though she said the garage would result in savings to the town, If a savings why a tax increase? and why 10.34%? or is this the "aggressive republican majority" that countered her tax increases with tax decreases?

The truth is our Town of Stanford has never been so divided since Virginia Stern has been involved...."mean spirited", "partisan", "aggressive"....Supervisor Stern need only look in the mirror. Her actions speak much louder than her soft words.

Did you know Virginia Stern and Johanna Shaffer voted against a 4.9% budget???

By a 3-2 vote (D'Agostino, Flynn and Dewhirst voted yes) the towns budget came in at a very modest 4.9% increase. Virginia Stern and Johanna Shaffer voted against a 4.9% budget even though they new their no vote could result in a 10.43% tax increase. Is this fiscal responsibility? Once again, your Town Councilman have kept your taxes low.

Both Virginia and Johanna voted against their own proposals they made at two different meetings. Virginia voted against a 4.91% budget, the same increase she proposed at the November 10, 2011 town board meeting. Johanna Shaffer after agreeing to the 4.91% budget then followed Virginia and voted against it.

Was it Open and Transparent government when the final budget meeting, which required a vote, was scheduled for 8am on Thursday morning November 17, 2011? There was no one in attendance except for one member of Virginia Sterns administration who videotaped the meeting.

Please send in your request or petition the town board for Virginia Stern to release the videotape of the meeting UN-EDITED. Ask the videotape be put on the towns website so to provide open and transparent government of the final budget meeting and vote....

SALACIOUS....VILE....PERSONAL....WITHOUT REGARD FOR THE TRUTH....

We now know that Virginia Stern and Johanna Shaffer had everything to do with the personal attacks and the baseless unsigned letters attacking the republican candidates this past election. How do we know that? Because members of Virginia Stern's inner circle who have become so disgusted with her politics of personal destruction have jumped ship and told the truth about Virginia and Johanna's involvement.

As is typical with Washington politicians who say and do anything to get elected regardless of the truth Virginia Stern and Johanna Shaffer have both denied anything to do with the vile, personal attacks and unsigned letters. All the while pointing the finger at others as the cause, author and producer of the partisan attacks on all three of your republican candidates. This is the politics of personal destruction that has caused such a divide in our small town, neighbor against neighbor, all to get elected....the end justifies the means.
